Partnership Awarded Over $27 Million in Federal Grants

Los Angeles, August 25 - The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools today announced that five of its schools have been awarded federal grants that will be worth more than $27 million over 3 years as a result of a vote by the State Board of Education last evening.

Hollenbeck Ready for TV "Makeover"

NBC's "School Pride," a new fall television program, has chosen Hollenbeck Middle School to receive a colorful facelift. The offer came from the producers of a new TV show, slated to premiere this fall. One of the show's creators also produced "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," in which a team of professionals shows up to turn a dreary home into a showcase.

Alliance for Digital Equality makes computer donations to Carver Middle School

The Alliance for Digital Equality (ADE), a non-partisan, non-profit organization that seeks to bridge the technology divide between underserved ethnic and minority communities within the United States and the technology advanced marketplace, today made an extraordinary donation of 175 computers to benefit the Los Angeles for Partnership Schools and particularly Carver Middle School in South Central LA.

New Campaign Calls for Change in City’s Public Schools

LOS ANGELES – The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools today announced it is has released the first of three 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) as part of a larger campaign to generate awareness of the crisis in LA’s lowest performing public schools.  The new PSA, titled “The Time is Now,” will air initially on Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket, a strategic partner of the Partnership.
