AltaMed Adopts Roosevelt
AltaMed Health Services, a non-profit healthcare provider, has adopted the Roosevelt High School Academy of Medical and Health Sciences and will extend medical-related field trips, a backpack donation program, guest speakers, job-shadowing internships, health education and obesity education.
Los Angeles Mayor and Roosevelt alumnus Antonio Villaraigosa kicked off the partnership, saying “organizations like AltaMed, who have resources and interest in connecting with our youth, are essential to our success going forward.”
Another Roosevelt graduate, AltaMed President and CEO Cástulo de la Rocha promised a continued presence at the school, saying “our entire team is committed to reaching out to the community and connecting with students who may have an interest in the health care field,” he said.
AltaMed is a Southern California area health care system providing primary care services, senior care programs, and health and human services for families. This is the sixth year they were ranked by Hispanic Business magazine as the number one nonprofit organization.
