Students Learn to Give Back on Big Sunday
On May 5th, Big Sunday Weekend 2012, one of these volunteer projects took place at our very own 99th Street Elementary. The Mayor's Office of Neighborhood and Community Services and Big Sunday jointly sponsored 60 volunteers to clean up the campus, paint, and work in the school garden.
Volunteers came together from the Mayor's Office, the school community, and LA Conservation Corps as part of this Big Sunday event.
Big Sunday's mission is to build community through community service, and they believe that everyone can help somebody else. Big Sunday has been helping others since 1999. Volunteer days, like the one at 99th St., teach our students that no matter how young you are, it's never too early to start giving back.
